Rosewood Abu Dhabi: The Short Story

Rosewood Abu Dhabi became the first Rosewood property to open in the United Arab Emirates in May 2013. The hotel offers a unique link between Abu Dhabi Global Market offices, the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and a high-end The Galleria Maryah Island shopping mall. The design was influenced by the falcon weaving traditional, Middle Eastern elements with modern architecture and design. The interior – designed by HOK – seamlessly unifies the juxtaposing design styles of modern lines and traditional heritage. The property offers sanctuary for anyone keen to explore the financial, shopping or dining opportunities that lie within.

Rosewood Abu Dhabi's Suites and Rooms

Inside The Presidential Suite, Rosewood Abu Dhabi

Rosewood Abu Dhabi features 149 guest rooms and 40 suites, as well as 131 serviced residences. As throughout the hotel, the blend of Middle Eastern architecture and modern comfort is unmistakable. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of the Arabian Gulf and the Abu Dhabi skyline. Regional artwork is intertwined with modern accessories, including an iPad room navigation system and oversized Villeroy & Boch bathtubs. The rooms feel inviting and modern, but with enough Emirati influence to feel that you are enjoying genuine five-star luxury in the UAE. On arrival, seven different types of dates – one for each Emirate – are presented with a card that explains the origin of the “Tree of Life”.

Rosewood Abu Dhabi's Direct Access

Rosewood Abu Dhabi feels like a hotel where you do not need to leave. Whether that would be to access the financial hub at Abu Dhabi global market, the world-class medical care at the Cleveland Clinic or the high-end fashion of The Galleria Mall. Each hub is directly accessible by air-conditioned walkways, or in the cooler months via the waterside promenade. On my way to the ATM, as there is not one located within the Rosewood itself, I passed many guests walking back with their Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Prada shopping bags. High end shopping demands a high luxury relaxation afterwards.

Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s Sense of Place Philosophy

The Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy takes inspiration from the history, architecture, and sensibilities of Abu Dhabi. In addition, the Manor Club Executive Lounge, Sense, a Rosewood Spa, fitness centre, and the outdoor pool at Glo provide the luxury relaxation after a busy day in the shops or the office. Sense, A Rosewood Spa offers indulgent therapies and treatments with a focus on tranquillity and indulgence.

Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s dining and bars

Rosewood Abu Dhabi offers, arguably, the most complete portfolio of food and beverage choices in the UAE with nine varied restaurants and lounges. As we found out during our stay, choosing a restaurant to eat, is the most difficult part with so many great choices.

Majlis by Pierre Hermé

Majlis by Pierre Hermé personifies the style of Rosewood Abu Dhabi more than any other restaurant here today. A traditional majlis intertwined with the elegance of Parisian pâtisserie: come here for stunning desserts and signature macarons. Afternoon tea is a must-do when staying at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi.

Dai Pai Dong

Authentic Cantonese cuisine with some of the best dim sum in the city. Come here for a genuinely excellent modern interpretation of Chinese food, with great views of the open kitchen chased down with gorgeous cocktails and their alluring Peking Duck.

Dragon’s Tooth Bar

Inspired by the 1920s Shanghai Jazz movement, this Speakeasy is cosy, dimly lit and fitted with prohibition style crockery and glassware. Whatever you do for dinner, make sure you come here first with access via Dai Pai Dong.

Glo

Glo is the open-air bar by the rooftop pool. Unbelievable views across the water, this is the place to be for fireworks on New Year’s Eve or similar occasions. The service is friendly and the cocktails are stylish as well as tasty! This is a pool bar that is equally gorgeous at night as it is during the day.

Hidden Bar

A confusing name for a bar that is in the same hotel as a speakeasy; the gin collection and house-infused vermouth make this an equally unmissable pre-dinner drinks choice. A great spot for putting your feet up post retail therapy. You pass the Hidden Bar on the way back from The Galleria Mall.

La Cava

This is my jewel of Rosewood Abu Dhabi. Quoting the website, but it truly is “the art of wine, fire and flavour.” A new, tighter menu by Chef Waleed is rambunctious in flavour and produce. As expected, a mammoth wine list lies within, best enjoyed within the humidor at the back. My advice is to go with the group and order all of the dishes to share!

BB Social Dining

This is the homegrown sister of the original restaurant DIFC, Dubai. It’s a vibrant space with a terrace that overlooks the shimmering water. Importantly, those fan favourite: the bao buns, the bowls and BBQ Bites remain. Come here for great cocktails, affordable champagne by the glass options and the greatest bao buns this country has to offer!

Em Sherif Sea Café

Another eatery with stunning views, this fine dining, Mediterranean / Lebanese experience found itself in the 2024 Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi. The seafood bar and the beef bar offer choices for everyone with plenty of popular favourites. If you let the service team take the lead.

Craft by Side Hustle

Troy Payne is the brainchild behind one of the most sought-after tables in the capital. There is a reason that booking is essential at the first ever brewery in the UAE, Troy’s food brings his Michelin background and knack for family pleasing flavours under one banner. Craft beers, secret recipe meats and fast, fluid service ensure that this large space is packed to the rafters.
