Dubai’s Best Breakfast Places That You MUST Try
Dubai is spoiled for superb breakfast places, whether in hotels, restaurants or corners poaching eggs, baking pittas and searing halloumi. These are my top recommendations by location and in alphabetical order for breakfast places in Dubai with a special weighting towards restaurants and local heroes to (mostly) get you out of hotels. Note a ‘Best of the Best’ mention to help you sift through this extensive list. Updated February 2023.

The Lows
Business Bay, City Walk, Design District, DIFC, Downtown Dubai and Sheikh Zayed Road
OneLife Kitchen, Design District
OneLife Kitchen serves breakfast in fashionable, trendy Design District moments from Downtown Dubai and Business Bay (plus a spot in Jumeirah Village Circle). The bright dining space sets the scene. Standout dishes: ‘Shakshoumi’ shakshuka with pesto and halloumi (ask for extra pesto, I do); the stacked bancakes with soft red fruit and toasted almond slivers is a healthier take on the chain mass-produced pancakes everywhere in the city.

The Sum Of Us, Sheikh Zayed Road | Best of the Best
An Instagram favourite, yet clandestinely located behind Sheikh Zayed Road’s phalanx of luxury hotels. A HUGE, multi-story dining space with a regular menu and a daily specials breakfast menu (which is well worth checking out each time you come). Standout dishes: the indulgent lobster toast (if available), their courgette jalapeño fritters and the mushroom quesadilla with crumbled feta cheese. Service is surprisingly attentive and fast given the size of this place. I dare you to walk passed the glorious cake counter without taking something home. You’re stronger than me if you can.
The Sum of Us, Burj Al Salam Residence (Behind Grand Sheraton SZR), Trade Centre, Dubai. The Sum of Us Website.
Time Out Market Dubai, Downtown Dubai | Best of the Best
This one is the cheat code. Time Out Market offers a selection of some of Dubai’s best restaurants under one roof including places that do not typically offer breakfast in their main establishments (I’m looking at you Pitfire Pizza). Standout dishes: here’s another cheat, champagne is heavily discounted making for a more affordable sparkling breakfast while overlooking the fountains at the Burj Khalifa. You should check out SLAB’s breakfast as well as Mattar’s burnt ends blanketed in cheese.
Time Out Market Dubai, Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai, Dubai. Time Out Market’s Website.
Al Quoz
Cassette | Best of the Best
Cassette is nestled inside The Courtyard in Al Quoz. Cassette started inside the restaurant’s four walls but has successfully taken over The Courtyard’s entire inside foyer. You may need to line up anyway – good luck with getting a table on weekends! The smart menu pushes passed conventional dishes (read: avocado toast, but yes, that’s also available). Standout dishes: savoury duck waffle confit (only on weekends), sweet potato hash with parmesan and feta and the truffle egg omelette. The coffees also pack a punch together with freshly made juices.
Cassette, The Courtyard, 4th Street, Al Quoz, Dubai. Cassette’s website.
Nightjar | Best of the Best
Alserkal Avenue’s one and only Nightjar thrums with 90’s R&B vibes and weapon’s grade coffee over the weekends. Think Shoreditch trendy with a strong selection of cold brew coffees on tap and a breakfast menu disloyal to cuisine in the ruthless pursuit of yum. There are times I’ve stayed an hour longer just to listen a little longer to the live DJ spin tracks. Standout dishes: crispy layered potatoes with celeriac roulade; spiced eggplant toastie; side dishes of buttery paratha.
Nightjar, Unit G62 Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. Nightjar’s website.
Nightjar’s crispy layered potatoes with celeriac roulade and side order of paratha
LILA Molino+Cafe
LILA Molino+Cafe has its Mexican breakfast menu up and running now! The sister restaurant to LILA Taqueria, LILA Molino+Cafe by Chef Shaw Lash, rolls out a tidy breakfast menu with Mexican-leaning adaptations of classics like their Mexican Benedict and more recognisable Mexican breakfast dishes. Come for a totemic Breakfast Torta, a hearty handheld slathered-in (ingredients) and a generous cold brew. The Huevos Rancheros, steeped in a spiced tomato sauce and Mexican white cheese (look it up), dotted with avocado and jalapeño, is a lighter but equally satisfying start to the day. Stronger people than me would leave without one of their chocolate chilli cookies or fudgy brownies.

Roseleaf Cafe, Dubai Garden Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road
Among the towering plants and potting soil lies Roseleaf Cafe split between two locations: a long cafe of Nordic style and, towards the middle of Dubai Garden Centre, is the conservatory space adjacent with a trailer and a rustic table ladened with carrot cakes, Victoria sponges and more. Contemporary breakfast classics done with a twist including an avocado toast with blackened kale and gossamer, bright sheets of pickled beetroot. The Complete Harvest is a slab of crispy potato, creamy spinach and celeriac roulade and a crispy fried egg. You can expect a selection of juices and coffees as usual. Make sure the grab a slice of carrot cake on the way out.

Roseleaf Cafe’s tucked away inside Dubai Garden Centre offering up solid dishes including casual breakfast dishes like this Complete Harvest.
Wild and the Moon
In a major shift in pace to its Nightjar neighbour, Wild and the Moon is a sanctuary of calm focusing on vegetarian and vegan dishes including seriously fresh juices with interesting mixes of herbs and dried powders. Standout dishes: the six-pack bowl with banana, peanut butter and protein powder, orange blossom pancakes and one of their delicious juices from their grab-and-go fridges, like the Better than Botox apple and cucumber juice.
Wild and the Moon, Alserkal Avenue, Street 8, H-77, Dubai. Wild and the Moon’s website.
It is a modern and small restaurant but they make good use of the space. I recommend sitting outside if you can watching yoga warriors march passed on their way to stretch everything. (Arrows and Sparrows)
Al Barari
Lowe | Best of the Best
“Where?” is the question I am often asked when I tell people that Lowe is one of my favourite breakfast (lunch and dinner) spots in Dubai. A devil-may-care disregard for the predictable breakfast rule book. Lowe’s spacious interior and outside garden space makes it ideal for both cooler and warmer climes. Lowe is also a multi-award winning restaurant with a Michelin Green star, MENA 50 Best listed and Gault Millau awards. Standout dishes: baked broken eggs in curried onion gravy and buttery roti; vegemite and molten cheese toastie with espelette pepper and pickles; the Lowe breakfast.
Lowe, KOA Canvas, Legends, Dubai. Lowe’s Website.
Lowe is an award-winning restaurant in Al Barari that’s worth the special journey.
The Farm Restaurant
The Farm is that quiet sanctuary perfect for families; for parents that want the kids to run loose so they can eat in peace while keeping a watchful eye. The running streams and curated gardens mean The Farm is really about the setting. The breakfast menu is filled with reliable, usual suspects but it’s the peace and quiet that draws people out of the city. Don’t be fooled: reservations are often essential. Standout dishes: their fresh juices, the Farm’s Florentine, and Boerewors Special.
The Farm Restaurant, Al Barari, Dubai. The Farm Restaurant Website.
Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Jumeirah Village Triangle, TECOM, The Greens
Arrows and Sparrows, The Greens
The Greens harbours this excellent, greenhouse-style cafe serving healthy technicolour breakfast plates. The interior has floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the restaurant with light further accented by its potted plants and touches of metal throughout. It is a modern and small restaurant but they make good use of the space. I recommend sitting outside if you can watching yoga warriors march passed on their way to stretch everything. Standout dishes: Breakfast with Colours with mounds of fresh peas, poached eggs, quinoa and a potent beetroot hummus.
Arrows and Sparrows, Building 4, Emaar Business Park, The Greens, Dubai. Arrows and Sparrows Website.
Maisan15 Cafe, Al Barsha
You would be forgiven for thinking you’ve walked into an abandoned building; the love child of Great Expectations meets The Secret Garden. However, Maisan15 commands a loyal following (starting with me) for its super casual and regional fare. The outside garden sitting epitomises the restaurant, but inside there is booth seating is also available. Standout dishes: Rami’s breakfast, a zaatar-honey rich flatbread, eggs and harissa labneh.
Maisan15 Cafe, Al Barsha, Al Barsha South, Dubai. Maisan15’s Instagram.
Maisan15’s Rami’s breakfast, a zaatar-honey rich flatbread, eggs and harissa labneh with a photo from of the outside of Maisan15.
Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT)
Friends Avenue, JLT | Best of the Best
Friends Avenue is that all-day dining spot that champions breakfast. The JLT branch is homely with potted plants and high ceilings with tall windows allowing light to bathe into this garden cafe. Without pretension, Friends Avenue is a place to catch up with friends, nurse hangovers, sip coffees and make plans for the rest of the day. I only wish they opened more branches in ,Dubai to be honest (there are three). Standout dishes: halloumi and avo on toast; Aussie pulled beef benedict; triple cheese toast and the green morning bowl.
Friends Avenue, Fortune Executive, Ground Floor, Cluster T, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. Friend’s Avenue Website.
1762 Stripped, JLT
Solid delivery favourite became a reliable breakfast spot in the ever-impressive JLT. 1762 Stripped sits inside One JLT with a mezzanine sitting area and outside terrace; the sort of place filled with people working on MacBooks and sipping flat whites. Standout dishes: large pretzels, saffron shakshuka and zaTurkishrkish eggs.
1762 Stripped, ONE JLT Building, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. 1762 Stripped’s Website.
LDC Kitchen+Coffee, JLT
Opposite One JLT’s atrium lies LDC Kitchen withfloor-to-ceilingiling windows, colourful tiles and soaring potted plants. It’s a bright space for couples, solo diners, families and groups. This chain is also available in other areas but I find myself returning to the JLT branch more than the others. Standout dishes: buttermilk pancakes with crispy praline streusel, crispy french toast and salmon eggs benni.

Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim
21 grams, Umm Suqeim | Best of the Best
21 grams scores ten full points for taking its name from an esoteric experiment conducted in the early 1900s to determine the weight of the human soul. In there begins the story of an Urban Balkan Bistro overlooking Dubai’s best monuments including the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Standout dishes: goat’s cheese, honey and thyme phyllo pie, clove cherry juice, cheese borek, poached eggs pindjur and their bullet-stopping cold brew.
21 grams, The Mall, Umm Suqeim, Dubai. 21 gram’s website.
21 gram’s banana split and their legendary goats cheese, thyme and honey phyllo pie
.
Amongst Few Cafe, Umm Suqeim 1
Sporting an aesthetic as strong as its coffee: exposed dark ceilings contrast with bright white walls and an outside terrace for al fresco dining in our cooler winter months. Amongst Few Cafe also has a shop for sneakers and trainers if you are in desperate need of Yeezys or Jordans. Standout dishes: the Yard Breakfast, the love child of an English, cooked breakfast and California brunch brought to you with Middle Eastern ingredients; or the pancakes, either vegan or banana.
Amongst Few Cafe, Bahwan Complex – Villa #3 – 966 Al Wasl Rd – Umm Suqeim 1 – Dubai. Amongst Few Cafe’s Website.
Comptoir 102, Jumeirah 1
A long-standing, award-winning, organic and healthy eating restaurant in leafy Jumeirah is perched between Kaftan, Stomping Grounds and others on this list. Comptoir 102, like its Kulture House neighbour, is more than a cafe restaurant with a selection of nick-nacks, jewellery and more available for sale inside a tranquil space that encourages long restful weekends with newspapers, coffees and nothing more. There are two main dining areas but the long lounge closest to the entrance is recommended. Standout dishes: pumpkin toast with cashew sauce, halloumi toast and mushrooms with poached eggs.
Comptoir 102, 102 Beach Road, Jumeirah 1, Dubai. Comptoir 102’s Website.
The Grey | Best of the Best
This low-key spot somewhat modestly described on Google Maps as a ‘coffee shop’ is a design-forward, tranquil space and a study in grey, if the name didn’t give it away. It looks like the coffee shop in a modern gallery. The best part is that it has one of the best breakfast menus in Dubai, in our opinion. Standout dishes: Turkish eggs with warm chilli oil and garlic labneh, their baked pastries on display each day, the croque madame with turkey ham and pecorino cheese and the halloumi bowl with poached eggs and hummus.
The Grey, 9 A Street, Al Wasl, Al Safa 1, Dubai. The Grey’s Website.
Kulture House, Jumierah 1
More than a restaurant, Kulture House is a leafy corner of Jumeirah with a maze-like interior that also sells jewellery, ouds, handbags, notebooks and those sorts of things you want to buy the person who probably has everything. The bright mustard walls and floor-to-ceiling windows ricohet light around the interior. Standout dishes (although portions can be small): jalapeño eggs benedict, apple dutch and the kina-mole.
Kulture House, 106 Jumeirah St, Jumeirah 1, Dubai. Kulture House’s Website.
RSVP Restaurant, Box Park | Best of the Best
Finally a restaurant worth a drive out to Box Park. RSVP opened as a dinner-only restaurant, however, breakfast started in 2023 with an ode to classic French breakfast items inside of this impressively designed space that snakes from a large central dining room with monochrome ceilings and glossy honeyed walls to smaller, more intimate seating areas passed the kitchen and what may be one of Dubai’s best bakeries. Standout dishes: croque monsieur, deli tower, dutch pancake and poached eggs with caviar. Reservations recommended.
RSVP Restaurant, Al Wasl Road, Box Park, Dubai. RSVP Restaurant’s Instagram.
RSVP Restaurant’s Croque Monsieur
Stomping Grounds, Jumeirah 1
A stalwart favourite in this part of town. The (proudly) Aussie-owned, large villa-like complex with an extensive breakfast menu to boot. The spacious outside terrace makes for a relaxing space during the cooler Dubai months. The darker more intimate interior bustles during the warmer months. Standout dishes: the breakfast sando special, charcoal labneh with poached eggs and any of their fresh juices.
Stomping Grounds, 98 12 D St, Jumeirah 1, Dubai. Stomping Ground’s Instagram.
Three by Eva, Jumeirah 2
Another place where everything they touch is magic. Three by Eva serves Levantine food with flair and finesse in a spacious dining room where the best seat is inside its air-conditioned conservatory on the ground floor. You can also come here for lunch or dinner where you will be treated to excellent Levantine dishes like their fattoush or grilled sea bass. Standout dishes: feta brûlée, mfarrakit potato and dukkah eggs with charcoal labneh.

Three by Eva’s downstairs inside decor is all a buzz

DUO Gastrobar, Dubai Hills Business Park
Duo Gastrobar may quietly be one of the best recent openings in Dubai in 2023. A capable import that bears a passing resemblance to The Maine in decor. The food quality blew us away. Draniki (crispy potato pancakes) loaded with light ribbons of yellow courgette, smoked salmon and ricotta, their unique take on shakshuka with avocado and chorizo or an indulgent crispy crab cake with scallops and lobster bisque. Yes, for breakfast. Don’t avoid the passion fruit cold brew or the orange, apple and yuzu short juice.

I sense big things for Duo Gastrobar. It has Bib Gourmand all over it.
Friends Avenue Cafe, Motor City | Best of the Best
The Motor City branch is an atrium with a high ceiling with walls bearing cycles, hanging potted plants and an accent wall of tropical foliage with neon signs. Eclectic matches the food. Friends Avenue gets busy so come here early or be prepared to wait for a little while. Standout dishes: their French Toast, a study of sugar and primordial joy, truffled mushroom toast, morning green bowl and shakshouka bowl with Turkish sausage. Wash it down with their cold brew infused with grapefruit and soda. Yum.
Friends Avenue Cafe, The Ribbon, Motor City. Friends Avenue Cafe’s Website.
The Palm Jumeirah
Revo Cafè at Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort
It’s not like me to add a hotel breakfast spot to the list but I found myself here one day impressed by how constrained Revo Cafe is in an otherwise totemic resort complex. A remarkably quiet place that seems a world apart. Carrot cakes the size of tyres, a modern industrial look where, quietly, you could come and work remotely should you wish. Standout dishes: Spanish fried eggs, eggs benedict with turkey ham and Turkish cilbir. Reservations optional.
