15 Best Restaurants in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT)
Dubai residents know that Jumeirah Lake Towers sports some of Dubai’s best casual restaurants. A free zone that emancipates culinary creatives from the trappings of onshore partnerships. It conjures a concentration of some of Dubai’s best, especially at more reasonable price points. Many will spread their wings and venture out of JLT. Still, JLT was their incubator. A place from which to test, learn and grow. This restaurant list will expand qualitatively and with time. Let us know if you see something you like that we are overlooking. Updated April 2023 and featured in alphabetical order.

1762 Stripped | Modern Deli & Cafe
1762 Stripped is an expansive cafe stretching across two floors and a generous outdoor terrace, well suited for those cooler Dubai months. It certainly satisfies the ‘cool place to work remotely’ category within JLT. The menu dabbles across various cuisines but there is always a ‘just made fresh’ approach that threads through everything. Oversized pastrami and Swiss pretzels, strong coffees, fresh daily salads and wraps, heartier Mediterranean chicken skewers or Asian-glazed salmon with zoodles. It’s also a strong breakfast spot with benedicts, Turkish eggs and green quinoa Buddha bowls – and more – available to order.

Bait Maryam is an award-winning, family-style Levantine restaurant serving very reasonably priced meals. You should look out for their Dish of the Day which often features a collapsingly-soft lamb neck with spiced rice and toasted almonds. Come for the chicken sumac fatet muskhan, frothy fresh pineapple juice and mouth-puckering fattoush. Both Bait Maryam and Chef Salma earned recognition in 2022 and 2023 from both the Michelin Guide and MENA 50 Best for their endeavours. You can read a full review about Bait Maryam here.

A low-key award-winning Thai restaurant serves up fiery Northern Thai dishes from larb to herbaceous beef salads to rich pad thai. This licensed restaurant is very reasonably priced with two locations and, from what we are told, the roof terrace is the more discerning option. Come hungry. You can read a full review about Cafe Isan here.

Canary Club | Modern International
Is it in JLT? Just, arguably. Canary Club comes from the same team that brought us The Maine restaurants. It’s a high-decor, beautiful restaurant where – to be honest – the food is not the reason you are coming. Canary Club is a licensed restaurant with some nightlife and energy about it; something you will struggle to find elsewhere in this part of town, to be honest. Still, the business lunch drives good value.

A small unsupposing restaurant devoid of fancy Dubai tantara churning out delicious dishes from a small kitchen. As usual, chaat dishes feature prominently with grand Raj Kachoris, pani puri or the tawa aloo chaat, a delicious mix of fried potatoes with mint, bright chutneys and spices on practically incandescent “Fisher Price yellow” plates and trays. Thalis and combos are also available at incredibly low prices together with parathas, rotis and more.

A month does not pass without a visit to Daikan. A small Japanese restaurant in the back of Cluster Y churns out some of Dubai’s silkiest, richest ramen dishes. The liquid gold of Daikan’s shoyu ramen or the spicy, crimson chef’s choice ramen are our staple go-to dishes. Other popular choices include their miso-laced fried aubergine, supple takoyaki and, of course, their gyozas. Come early and be prepared to wait (mercifully, takeout is available).

A local breakfast hero that pushes on into lunch and dinner time. This modern breezy cafe overlooks the ‘lake’ within a relaxed space. Order poached eggs, avocado toasts, French toasts and bullet-stopping coffees in the morning. Burrata with spaghetti and pesto, the Ottoman Chicken bowl with pickled carrots and yoghurt or just plum for the double wagyu Friends Avenue burger during lunch times (“veggie vurger” also available).
Friends Avenue, Fortune Executive Tower, Cluster T (Cark Park Level), Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. Call +971 4554 5813 or visit Friends Avenue’s website for the latest information.

A guide to the best restaurants in JLT (Jumeirah Lake Towers) assembled over time - from Thai to pizza to ramen to ceviche.
Fusion Ceviche Authentic Peruvian Cuisine | Peruvian
Dubai is back in love with Peruvian and Chef Penelope Diaz plays no small role in that. A small restaurant that doles out punchy rounds of its namesake: sea bass ceviche, tuna Nikkei ceviche and more. The roasted octopus with potatoes spiked with huacatay sauce and smoke chimichurri is a regular order. We take the empanadas (when they are available) and finish off everything with the tooth-chattering three-milk cake. Fusion Ceviche is an exciting local hero newcomer to the area. Good luck getting a seat. You can read a full review of Fusion Ceviche Authentic Peruvian Cuisine here.

Like Daikan, a month will not pass without a visit to the award-winning Maiz Tacos. A lively spot reliably playing 90s R&B music in and out the restaurant for who need their salsa with a side of Blackstreet. We perch on picnic tables during those more forgiving Dubai months. Taco Tuesday is a must visit with a range of tacos available with fresh tortillas chips, guac and their daily fresca (we love the hibiscus most). You can expect the usual taco suspects like their birria tacos, pollo adobado and the carne asada. Lighter days demand their cauliflower and sweet potato bowl. Hangovers call upon the hefty marinated angus flank steak carne burrito. Maiz Tacos, Cluster Y (Downstairs underneath the car park), Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai. A Dubai staple, Mythos is one of the JLT OGs and, for the most part, elevates the JLT dining to somewhere that you could also come to for dinner for a bit of an occasion as the interior is tastefully finished. Favourites include the grilled sea bass with wild greens, slow-cooked suckling lamb pilafi and tzatziki with pita bread. Mythos reliably turns out good dishes and reservations are highly encouraged.

Pitfire Pizza’s name comes up whenever Dubai’s Best Pizza is discussed. A casual restaurant was founded in JLT with meticulous attention to detail: from its slow-fermented crusts to a Gladwellian ten thousand hours honing new combinations and options. The pepperoni is a crowd favourite but discerning diners will not overlook the Palm festooned with sticky dates, rosemary and gorgonzola – it works, trust us. The Plain Jane is anything but. Garlic knots are always ordered as is protocol and Mrs EatGoSee is never known not to order the mac and cheese with the truffle and bread crumbs.

Dubai does not need another Japanese restaurant, until SOON Izakaya came to JLT. It’s what is know as a ‘vibe’. A buzzing, pumping restaurant with beautiful people milling around a central bar catching up on the week. A varied age group with the 20s somethings shoulder to shoulder with the 40 and 50 somethings. The wine list by the glass is better than you’d expect. If there was ever low-key lightening in a bottle, it’s SOON Izakaya. Fashionable without being try hard. Food wise, it excels with large groups offering a selection of sharing dishes and small plates. Some standout dishes included the lacquered aubergine miso as well as the chicken and prawn gyozas. Come for food, stay for the drinks and music.

A new entrant from experienced hands as Splendor Fields opens in a leafy area of JLT overlooking a park. A space for which moderate weather is perfect. The expansive, casual restaurant features a lengthy menu with dishes you come to expect from this hospitality group (think Common Grounds, Tom & Serg etc). The crispy courgette chips with tzatziki and a roasted cauliflower bowl with harissa hummus and quinoa make for filling lunches. Like Mythos, Splendor Fields raises the stakes in JLT. Still, it’s a space for sipping coffees and catching up without pretension.

Streetery is a mini-food market hall featuring the concept of different restaurants with differing menu options coming together under one roof. JLT and Dubai residents know Streetery for offering excellent value and filling meals – whether Thai or Malaysian. Grilled baby squid, vibrant papaya salads, spicy Szechuan dumplings, skewered chicken satays or Chinese sweetcorn soups. Yet, few things beat their refreshing cucumber salad – trust us. Like many other entrants here, Streetery is a casual mainstay of JLT’s dining scene and a must-visit.

Vietnamese Foodies grew across Dubai offering excellent value with daily launch specials that feature their renowned aromatic pho. Choose the size and decide between chicken, brisket or beef tenderloin pho. The fresh prawn papaya salad is a favourite together with duck sausage in betel leaves, five spice chicken lettuce rolls with nuoc cham sauce or pillowy char siu honey barbecued chicken buns.
